About The Position

The Morgridge Institute for Research, in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, seeks a joint tenure track assistant professor to lead a vibrant metabolism-focused research program. This position will include a joint appointment as an investigator at the Morgridge Institute for Research and as faculty member in one of the potential home departments: the Departments of Chemical & Biological Engineering, Medical Microbiology & Immunology, and Neuroscience at UW-Madison. This recruitment is part of the Morgridge Institute’s Metabolism Theme and the larger, UW-Madison campus-wide Metabolism Initiative that aims to enhance the pace, productivity, and international profile of metabolism-related research in Madison. The Morgridge Institute is a private interdisciplinary research institute affiliated with UW-Madison, serving as a hub for investigators affiliated with multiple university departments to work collaboratively on fundamental biomedical questions, and as such offers an extraordinary interdisciplinary work environment. UW-Madison is a world-class academic institution, where the metabolism research community includes hundreds of scientists spanning diverse areas of biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, organismal biology, and medicine. Requirements

  • Doctorate degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a related field.
  • Proven track record of high-impact research related to metabolism.
  • Vision for an innovative, significant and impactful research program.
  • Skills to implement a research program.
  • Commitment to high quality and inclusive undergraduate and graduate instruction and mentoring.

  • Experience in Medical Microbiology & Immunology: Immunometabolism, host-microbe metabolic crosstalk, microbial metabolism.
  • Experience in Neuroscience: Neurometabolism, metabolism in the brain, and the metabolic basis of neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders.
  • Embrace a collaborative and interdisciplinary research culture.
