About The Position

This is an exciting opportunity to explore a career in Merchandising with TJX Companies. TJX's California Buying Office, located in downtown Los Angeles, is the only buying office in the US that buys for all of TJX's global brands. This office is comprised of nearly 300 associates, primarily Merchants. We offer a hybrid work schedule and a collaborative work environment. We are actively seeking to network with talented Merchants at all levels who are interested in future career opportunities at TJX. Our buyers are responsible for sourcing a wide variety of brand name and designer merchandise for the entire family and home, often capitalizing on opportunities such as department store cancellations, overproduction by manufacturers, or end-of-season closeouts. The majority of our products are high-quality, fashionable, and on-trend, offered at prices significantly lower than traditional retailers. We also develop private label merchandise and design products through our own fashion experts when market offerings do not meet our value proposition for customers. Our dynamic Buying team ensures a desirable and rapidly changing mix of high-quality merchandise at exceptional values, catering to diverse customer styles.

Requirements

Previous Buyer experience
Track record of driving sales results and executing successful buying strategies
Strong analytical, financial, strategic, and planning skills
Exceptional negotiating skills
Entrepreneurial mindset with a comfort level in taking measurable risks
Strong communication, relationship-building, and team collaboration skills
Bachelor's degree

Responsibilities

Buying product to offer customers a desirable and rapidly changing mix of high quality merchandise, always at amazing values.
Sourcing brand name and designer merchandise for the entire family and home.
Negotiating prices and taking advantage of various buying opportunities (e.g., department store cancellations, manufacturer overproduction, closeouts).
Ensuring merchandise is high quality, fashionable, and on-trend.
Developing private label merchandise and designing products through fashion experts.
Driving sales results and executing successful buying strategies.
