About The Position

The Merchandising Operations Manager - Surface will own how OG presents live markets on its platform, focusing on the user-facing merchandising aspects. This role is responsible for the end-to-end presentation of live markets, including the homepage, discovery modules, featured and thematic hubs, packaged multi-leg merchandise, calendars, and live narrative swaps. The goal is to ensure that users land on markets that match current events and are presented in a way that facilitates trading. This position operates with independence, making decisions on featured content, packaging, and what is removed from the board. The role reports to the VP of Product, with Market Listing, rulesets, and settlement handled by Market Ops. The focus is on the 'how' and 'when' of surface presentation, free from additional layers or politics.

Requirements

  • Experience owning sportsbook or marketplace merchandising (modules, featured, packages) end-to-end.
  • Demonstrated ability to show before/after impact on engagement or conversion.
  • Experience handling live operations under pressure, including during major events and when dependencies break down.
  • Ability to operate on event time (nights, weekends, holidays).
  • Experience using data (SQL, dashboards, or analyst partners) to inform merchandising decisions.
  • Experience running or partnering on A/B (or multi-arm) tests for merchandising or discovery, including identifying invalid tests.
  • Proven ability to act as a cross-functional DRI, aligning Product, Trading/Risk, and Marketing without owning their charters.
  • Domain fluency or rapid learning speed in event contracts, odds, and prediction UX.
  • Ability to ask user-centric questions about market discovery and trading.

Nice To Haves

  • MerchOps/Sportsbook merchandising experience for a faster ramp-up.
  • Experience merchandising event contracts in prediction/prediction-market settings.
  • Proficiency with SQL and experimentation tooling to reduce reliance on dedicated analysts.
  • Depth in sports, politics, or culture verticals to identify key moments for hero placement.

Responsibilities

  • Own the merchandised surface end-to-end, acting as the DRI for homepage/discovery modules and featured market placement on OG web and mobile.
  • Decide what content is featured in the hero section, what rotates, and what is excluded, ensuring commercial quality for all live merchandising.
  • Build and rotate packaged, high-intent merchandise (e.g., parlay/SGP analogs on event contracts) tied to real narratives, not generic lists.
  • Manage live merchandising in real-time during major events, swapping surfaces as needed and partnering with Trading/Risk when odds or inventory shift.
  • Operate on event time, including nights, weekends, and holidays, ensuring speed and accuracy in merchandising decisions.
  • Connect the merchandising calendar to product launches, aligning with sports, politics, culture, and marketing moments.
  • Flag coverage gaps to Market Ops before stories peak.
  • Prioritize, QA, and analyze merchandising A/B and multi-arm tests with Product and Data teams, determining winners and losers.
  • Instrument own funnel for analysis without waiting for external support.
  • Monitor the competitive set and propose and ship responses.
  • Handoff cleanly with Market Ops, consuming new listings promptly and providing feedback on unmet demand and broken-resolution UX signals.
  • Focus on presentation, not on writing rulesets or settling markets.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Attractive annual leave entitlement including: birthday, work anniversary
  • 401(k) plan with employer match
  • Company-sponsored group health, dental, vision, and life/disability insurance
  • Flexi-work hour and hybrid set-up
  • Internal mobility program for career alternatives
