About The Position

The Merchandise Coordinator at TJ Maxx is responsible for executing receiving and merchandising standards, supporting efficient merchandise processing, and working with Associates as a team. The role helps ensure an excellent customer experience by engaging with customers, maintaining a clean and organized store, and modeling exceptional customer service. The Coordinator orchestrates truck deliveries and prioritizes moving merchandise onto the sales floor; trains and mentors Associates on merchandising and processing principles; and monitors team productivity, coaching as needed. The role also maintains backroom organization, merchandising and signage standards, and compliance with applicable recycling and hazardous-waste programs. The Coordinator communicates priorities and progress with management and Associates, partners with Management on training needs, and supports store safety, shrink reduction, credit, and loyalty programs. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
Superior communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
Capable of multitasking and responding appropriately to changes in direction or unexpected situations.
Able to work effectively with peers and supervisors as a team player.
Capable of lifting heavy objects, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Able to train others.
One year of retail experience and six months of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

Create a positive internal and external customer experience.
Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
Orchestrate truck delivery and prioritize processing merchandise onto the sales floor.
Train and mentor Associates on established merchandising and processing principles.
Ensure merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded.
Communicate with the Coordinator on Duty to support efficient flow of goods to the sales floor.
Ensure Associates complete tasks according to the store plan and reprioritize as needed.
Monitor team productivity and coach as necessary.
Organize and rotate back stock for easy replenishment.
Maintain merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards in the backroom.
Ensure compliance with recycling and, where applicable, hazardous-waste programs.
Communicate priorities and progress accurately and effectively with management and Associates.
Provide and accept recognition and constructive feedback.
Partner with Management on Associate training needs.
Ensure adherence to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Promote credit and loyalty programs.
Support store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
