About The Position

Assist in leading, directing and overseeing the safe and effective Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Low Voltage scopes of work of subcontractors and design teams for projects. Take action as needed to ensure project goals, objectives and initiatives are met in alignment with the mission, vision and values of Barnhill Contracting Company.

Requirements

  • High school degree or an equivalent combination of training and work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for implementation and quality control of MEP system installations to meet the project design specifications including duct testing, pipe testing, damper installation, air handler installation, fire alarm system, smoke dampers, equipment installation and start-up.
  • Assists in coordination of contractors or supervision of mechanical trades on multiple projects in alignment with overall project schedules.
  • Observes and interfaces with contractors or trades to monitor work performance, progress and productivity.
  • Use MEP expertise to identify and troubleshoot shortcomings of the MEP design drawings, shop drawings, coordination drawings and specifications early in projects.
  • Work closely with project teams to lead the commissioning process from start to finish. This includes third party commissioning agents, test and balance activities, verification of specified discharge temperatures and building automation systems.
  • Assist with required final owner training of all systems.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with suppliers and building tenants
  • Assist preconstruction teams with constructability reviews, scope reviews and kick off meetings as needed.
  • Participate in BIM, subcontractor coordination and owner/architect meetings as necessary to support the project team for successful MEP installations.
  • Collaborate with projects teams in a specific region to assist in reviewing MEP pay applications for percentages complete and legitimacy of change requests from subcontractors.
