About The Position

American International Contractors (Special Projects), Inc. (AICI-SP) is currently seeking a MEP Superintendent to work on upcoming secure projects OCONUS. AICI-SP has established itself as one of the leading construction firms in the Department of State, Overseas Building Operations (OBO) program, consistently winning important contracts and projects. The company fosters a culture of innovation and is looking for dynamic individuals who hold an active secret security clearance, may have held one recently, or have the ability to obtain one. Experience working with Department of State OBO or U.S. Corps of Engineer as a client, and any international experience, is highly valued. The MEP Superintendent is responsible for the coordination of all mechanical construction site activities to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must have an ACTIVE U.S. secret level security clearance
  • 7 or more years of mechanical superintendent experience in the construction of large projects
  • Knowledge, skill, and experience with U.S. construction methods, techniques, and standards
  • Must be willing to work overseas

Nice To Haves

  • International construction industry experience interacting with various diverse cultures.
  • Overseas Building Operations (OBO) experience preferred
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in a related field

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of the actual physical construction of the project in strict accordance with the contract documents
  • Verification of mechanical safety compliance
  • May supervise a specific craft or trade (mechanical, electrical, and or plumbing); coordinate the activities of a variety of tradesmen, professionals and laborers
  • Maintain and plan reports, work-arounds, shutdowns and tie-ins
  • Enforce safety and quality-control policies
  • Monitor productivity and schedule to ensure that they are meeting budget
  • Track the inventory of supplies and materials to ensure that vital materials are ordered and delivered to meet schedule
  • Direction and day-to-day coordination of mechanical trade contractors (and their sub-contractors when required) to ensure they turn out high-quality work that meets the approved project schedule.
  • Communicate site rules regarding safety procedures to new hires and enforce those rules
  • Maintain satisfactory relationships with clients and subcontractors
  • Ability to work in a team environment with other Project Managers, Engineers and Superintendents
  • Identify potential mechanical issues in the planning phase and monitor mechanical installation means and methods in the construction phase
  • Leadership of mechanical, electrical and plumbing team staff
  • Exercise skills in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues
  • Other duties as assigned by General Superintendent or Project Manager
