About The Position
The MEP Estimator is responsible for independently preparing mechanical, HVAC, and/or plumbing estimates, technical proposals, cost models, and risk analyses for complex institutional and mission-critical projects.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of estimating experience in the MEP disciplines (Mechanical, HVAC, or Plumbing). Experience does not need to be exclusively mechanical—strong plumbing or HVAC estimating experience is equally valuable.
Responsibilities
- Lead estimating efforts on assigned projects from kickoff through proposal delivery
- Perform detailed take-offs across mechanical, piping, HVAC, and plumbing scopes
- Conduct cost modeling, labor analysis, system comparisons, and historical evaluations
- Develop detailed, professional proposal documents
- Assist in risk evaluation, contingency modeling, and value engineering
- Analyze plans, specifications, addenda, and coordination drawings
- Identify scope gaps, risk factors, and constructability issues
- Work with design/build teams on system selection, design‑assist efforts, and feasibility reviews
- Solicit, review, and level subcontractor proposals
- Assist in procurement, vendor buyouts, and material pricing strategy
- Participate in internal and client-facing estimate reviews
- Provide technical insight to Business Development and Project Management teams
- Contribute to scheduling, phasing, and logistical planning
