MEP Drafter / BIM Coordinator – Plumbing & HVAC
About The Position
Haddad Plumbing and Heating Inc. is seeking a Drafter to join its design and project support team. The role works closely with Project Managers, engineers, architects, and field supervisors to prepare accurate, detailed technical drawings for mechanical construction projects. It converts design concepts, sketches, specifications, and architectural and engineering plans into 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models that support construction planning and execution. The Drafter creates shop drawings and coordinated mechanical, plumbing, and ductwork models for commercial new construction projects, uses AutoCAD MEP and Revit to develop spatial layouts, and runs Navisworks clash-detection workflows to identify and resolve spatial conflicts before fabrication. The role also maintains drawing logs, project revisions, and BIM coordination files, and incorporates field feedback into technical submittals. The position is full-time and on-site at the company's Newark, New Jersey headquarters, with a Monday–Friday schedule of 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Requirements
- At least 2–3 years of dedicated drafting experience in the plumbing, HVAC, or mechanical trade.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD MEP or Revit.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret complex commercial architectural, structural, and MEP engineering blueprints.
- Strong English communication skills for coordinating with Project Managers and participating in trade coordination updates.
- Ability to work full-time on-site at the Newark, NJ headquarters.

- Experience with Navisworks or SysQue.
Responsibilities
- Create comprehensive 2D shop drawings and coordinated 3D mechanical, plumbing, and ductwork models from architectural and engineering plans.

- Run automated clash-detection workflows using Navisworks to flag and resolve spatial conflicts before fabrication.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and field supervisors to incorporate real-world feedback into technical submittals.
- Organize and maintain digital drawing logs, project revisions, and BIM coordination files.
