About The Position

The Mentoring Coach supports pre-arrival clients approved to work in Canada by facilitating their integration into the Canadian workforce. This role involves conducting virtual orientation sessions, overseeing mentoring clients, establishing relationships between clients and industry professionals, and developing resources to enhance employment readiness. The Coach collaborates with various stakeholders to ensure clients are well-prepared for employment upon landing in Canada.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Adult Education, Immigration Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Certification in Career Development, Employment Counseling, or Mentorship Training is an asset.
  • 3+ years of experience in career coaching, mentorship, employment counseling, settlement services, or a related field.
  • Experience working with newcomers, immigrants, or internationally trained professionals, particularly in a pre-arrival or settlement program.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian labour market, workplace culture, and employment standards.
  • Experience delivering virtual training, webinars, and online mentoring sessions.
  • Familiarity with credential recognition processes and regulated professions in Canada.
  • Strong experience in networking, employer engagement, and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Experience in data collection, reporting, and evaluation of program outcomes.
  • Proven ability to develop educational materials, action plans, and industry-specific career resources.
  • Experience working with mentorship platforms, and digital collaboration tools (Zoom, MS Teams, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills for delivering engaging virtual sessions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English (additional languages are an asset).
  • Ability to assess and address individual client needs while providing personalized career guidance.
  • Exceptional networking and relationship-building skills to connect clients with industry professionals.
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to assist mentees in overcoming employment barriers.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in mentorship and employment support.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple mentees, clients and reporting requirements effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide One-on-One Career Coaching, guide mentees in resume building, interview preparation, and professional branding to enhance job readiness.
  • Conduct online information and orientation sessions for mentees to familiarize them with life in Canada, Canadian workplace culture and employment expectations.
  • Develop personalized action plans with mentees to address individual employment goals and objectives.
  • Conduct virtual training sessions to orient clients on the Canadian job market, requirements and culture.
  • Create industry specific portfolios for clients, to match them with specific industries across Canada.
  • Develop Sector-Specific Webinars, organize and facilitate webinars focused on key industries in Canada, highlighting in-demand skills, credential recognition, and licensing requirements.
  • Create a data base of mentors and mentees from various industries that could be matched on pre-arrival.
  • Match mentee clients with appropriate mentors based on their professional backgrounds and career objectives.
  • Facilitate virtual mentoring workshops and to enhance professional connections.
  • Participate in the ongoing development and updating of online mentoring resources.
  • Develop a data base with course reading material, and information about Canada and the Canadian job market.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and partners working in the pre-arrival services sector.
  • Collect, analyze, and report statistics on client trends and outcomes, including conducting surveys and evaluations.
  • Liaise with Employers and Industry Leaders, establish and maintain relationships with Canadian employers and industry experts to create networking opportunities for mentees.
  • Support Credential Recognition Navigation, assist mentees in understanding the credential recognition process for regulated professions and provide guidance on alternative career pathways.
  • Monitor Mentee Progress, track mentees’ progress towards employment goals, offering ongoing support and adapting strategies as needed.
  • Stay Updated on Labour Market Trends, Research and provide insights on evolving employment trends, job opportunities, and sectoral shifts in Canada.
  • Develop Pre-Arrival Learning Modules, contribute to the creation of structured learning modules covering job search strategies, workplace integration, and career development.
  • Ensure Accessibility and Inclusion, implement inclusive practices to support mentees from diverse backgrounds, including women, refugees, and internationally trained professionals.
  • Enhance Digital Engagement, leverage digital tools, online platforms, and social media to expand outreach and engagement with pre arrival clients.
  • Meet monthly and annual client targets.
  • Write up monthly, quarterly and annual reports highlighting activities, trends and client success stories
