About The Position

The Peninsula College Fund (PCF) is dedicated to empowering low-income, first-generation college students to achieve graduation and secure fulfilling careers. PCF provides a comprehensive program including four-year scholarships, one-to-one adult mentors, college and career success training, and summer internship support. The organization, which began in 2005, has grown significantly, serving over 530 students and awarding more than $3.7 million in scholarships. Currently operating with a small staff, PCF is seeking a dynamic and committed Mentor Program Lead to join its Programs Team. This full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Director of Programs and will collaborate closely with the Programs team, Events Lead, and Development team to recruit and engage volunteers and mentors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in program coordination, volunteer management, or a related field.
  • Experience with CRM software, preferably Live Impact.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with social media platforms for engagement and marketing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to PCF's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead mentor and volunteer recruitment.
  • Establish a calendar of recruitment and onboarding events in collaboration with the Events Lead and Programs team.
  • Deliver presentations at mentor recruitment and community engagement events.
  • Follow-up with organizations for mentor applications/volunteer registrations.
  • Monitor and report the number of mentor/volunteer applications or registrations.
  • Review volunteer registrations/sign-ups to ensure they meet program standards.
  • Interview and evaluate mentor and volunteer applicants.
  • Conduct background checks, reference checks, and volunteer vetting.
  • Communicate with applicants regarding their application status.
  • Assist Programs team with mentor/scholar matching process.
  • Prepare, disseminate, and analyze results of the annual mentor satisfaction survey.
  • Oversee scholar/mentor issues and assist with solving problems.
  • Develop a system to hold Programs Coordinators accountable for meeting annual mentor check-in quotas.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise between mentors and scholars.
  • Collaborate with Program Coordinators to rematch scholars who do not have mentors.
  • Act as mentor liaison/champion for staff.
  • Co-coordinate an annual mentor/volunteer appreciation event.
  • Establish, manage, and promote Mentor social media groups.
  • Identify mentor training needs and develop a schedule for implementation of minimum 4 trainings/year.
  • Identify and/or create training resources, including a mentor curriculum and handbooks.
  • Communicate with mentors about student progress and support.
  • Oversee the Donor/Mentor Appreciation Event, Mentor Orientation, and other mentor and volunteer-focused events.
  • Attend and execute day-of-event tasks for all PCF events.
  • Maintain Live Impact with mentor and volunteer data and notes.
  • Monitor and update mentor status in LiveImpact.
  • Participate in staff meetings, Program Committee meetings, and program and development events.
  • Lead online engagement, outreach, and storytelling efforts for the mentors program.
  • Create and send out monthly Mentor newsletters.
