Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a social services discipline (required)
  • Degrees that can be considered include: social work, drug and alcohol education or counseling, psychology, criminal justice, guidance counseling, or marriage and family therapy (others subject to review)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal, and oral skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Basic computer knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a social services discipline (preferred)
  • 3 to 6 months of experience recruiting and managing volunteers (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with Salesforce (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Maintains communication and coordination with appropriate Youth Villages staff to evaluate volunteer needs and performance
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of volunteer mentors and mentor program
  • Communicates with mentors regularly and implements improvements
  • Conducts workshops to provide continuous training for mentors
  • Leads orientation and other trainings for new mentors
  • Maintains list for youth in need of mentors
  • Documents mentor program goals and outcomes
  • Develops plan to recruit new mentors for each program
  • Creates slide deck presented to civic groups, professional organizations, etc.
  • Recruits volunteers through speaking engagements, network connections, and requests generated from outreach materials
  • Screens, interviews, and matches volunteers with youth
  • Complies with standards set by the Youth Villages Mentoring Partnership
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
