About The Position

The Mental Health Worker supports inpatient adult and geriatric patients in the Adult Psych department at Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois. Under the direction and supervision of an RN, LVN, or Charge RN, the role assists licensed nursing staff with providing and documenting patient care, including help with activities of daily living. The position also provides basic nursing care, supports unit functions, and performs clerical duties as assigned.

The Mental Health Worker helps maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and coworkers; works as part of the interdisciplinary care team; and communicates pertinent patient information to the supervising RN. Responsibilities are carried out in accordance with Nursing Structure Standards, hospital and nursing policies, and applicable state regulatory and accrediting requirements.

Requirements

• If a CNA, hold a current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant license issued by the State; if not a CNA, have at least one year of experience working as a Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting.
• Obtain BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current certification.

Nice To Haves

• One year of prior mental health experience.
• Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology.

Responsibilities
