About The Position

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking a student in a behavioral health field to join our Integrated Community Supports (ICS) team at our apartment-based program in Burnsville. Our ICS program works with individuals who qualify for waiver services and who choose to live in an individual apartment setting. Our staff provide training and support with community participation; health, safety, and wellness; household managementment, and adaptive skills.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Currently attending or recently graduated from a bachelor’s program in social human services, psychology, social work, or related field.
• Ability to meet program and academic requirements for an internship or practicum placement.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working with or knowledge of individuals with serious and persistent mental illness, chemical dependency, developmental disabilities, and/or other health conditions that impact mental health.
• Interest in working with adults experiencing serious mental illness, co-occurring disorders, or behavioral health crises.
• Previous volunteer work, or practicum experience in human services or behavioral health is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with developing and maintaining skills such as meal planning, cooking, housekeeping, laundry, budgeting, and other daily living tasks that promote independence.
• Support individuals in accessing community resources, attending appointments, participating in social and recreational activities, and working toward their identified goals.
• Monitor the well-being and safety of individuals, implement support and safety plans including Individual Abuse Program Plans, report concerns, and complete accurate documentation of services and progress.
• Ensure that all assigned daily tasks are completed in a timely manner.
• Attend all required and assigned meetings and training.
