Mental Health Worker - Psych Acute
About The Position
The Mental Health Worker - Psych Acute position is a full-time role in the Psych Acute Adult department at Prime Healthcare Mercy Medical in Aurora, IL. The role involves assisting licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living, under the direction and supervision of an RN, LVN, or Charge RN. The Mental Health Worker supports unit functions, maintains a safe and clean environment, and acts as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team by communicating pertinent patient information to the supervising RN. The position also includes performing clerical duties and providing basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients, adhering to Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy, and state regulatory and accrediting requirements.
Requirements
- Current and valid license as a Certified Nursing Assistant issued by the State, if a CNA.
- If not a CNA, a minimum of one year experience working as a Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting preferred.
- BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
- One (1) year prior mental health experience preferred.
- Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.

Responsibilities
- Assist the licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living.
- Support unit functions and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and co-workers.
- Function as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and communicate pertinent patient information to the supervising RN.
- Perform clerical duties as assigned.
- Provide basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients.
- Perform responsibilities within the guidelines of the Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy and state regulatory and accrediting requirements.
