Mental Health Worker
About The Position
Trinity Health Of New England is seeking a Mental Health Worker / Behavioral Health Technician to join its Behavioral Health Unit at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. The role supports patients in recovery-oriented activities, communicates patient needs to the clinical team, monitors patient safety, and works with nursing professionals to create a healing environment. The position is full-time, working three 12-hour day shifts per week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., for 36 hours per week. The stated pay range is $18.70–$28.05 per hour, with pay based on experience, skills, education, and location. Johnson Memorial Hospital provides health care services to people in north central Connecticut and western Massachusetts. It is a 92-bed hospital and has served as an anchor institution in north central Connecticut for more than 100 years.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with related experience.
- AHA CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
- A broad practical understanding of life experiences and the ability to relate to emotionally ill individuals.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Good problem-solving skills.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field.
- Prior experience in a psychiatric setting.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient observations and other patient care activities.
- Observe patient behavior.
- Perform, report, and document vital signs and activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Respond rapidly to emergency call lights and perform safety checks.
- Provide group and individual interventions to assist psychiatric patients toward recovery and rehabilitation.
- Communicate patient needs to the clinical team and work with nursing professionals to support a healing environment.
