About The Position

The Mental Health Worker I functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team to assess each patient’s functional abilities, impairments, and needs and address them individually. The role supports nursing staff and patient care under the direction and guidance of licensed staff and leaders. This is a full-time night-shift position at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. The schedule is 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekdays, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Requirements

0–2 years of experience as a patient care assistant in a mental health hospital setting.
Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
De-escalation Training Certification required.

Responsibilities

Keep patient-care supplies and equipment readily available and organized.
Correctly identify and use personal protective equipment.
Respond promptly to patient and family requests.
Monitor and record patient information, test results, and statistics accurately.
Provide assigned patients with activities of daily living, non-medication pain management, and other interventions.
Follow patient-care policies, practices, and protocols, including sterile technique and skin-care protocols.
Assist patients with personal hygiene and elimination needs.
Provide clean linen and towels at the beginning of the shift and change them as needed.
Answer the call system promptly and intervene appropriately.
Clean equipment as directed.
Support continuity of professional care and participate in program development and process improvement.
Follow proper procedures during verbal and physical patient de-escalation.
Individually perform crisis intervention and restrain violent patients.
Respond to all Code White alerts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance and comply with all policies and standards.
