Mental Health Worker- Psych Acute
About The Position
This role involves providing patient care in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings. In the inpatient setting, under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, the Mental Health Worker assists with patient care, including activities of daily living, maintaining a safe environment, and documenting patient information. They function as part of the interdisciplinary care team and perform basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients. In the outpatient setting, under the direction of the Director of Nursing, RN, and Program Director, the Mental Health Worker carries out activities of daily living programs and individual treatment plans for psychiatric patients.
Requirements
- Current and valid license as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) issued by the State, if applicable.
- If not a CNA, a minimum of one year of experience working as a Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting.
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
Nice To Haves
- One (1) year prior mental health experience.
- Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living.
- Support unit functions and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and co-workers.
- Function as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and communicate pertinent patient information to the supervising RN.
- Perform clerical duties as assigned.
- Provide basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients.
- Carry out activities of daily living program and individual treatment plans for psychiatric patients in an outpatient setting.
