About The Position

Merakey is seeking a Mental Health Worker to join their team at their program in Harrisburg, PA, supporting Dauphin County. This role involves assisting in providing rehabilitation and support services for individuals with mental health and behavioral health diagnoses. The position supports treatment plans, including substance abuse services, education, and family consultation, under clinical supervision. The Mental Health Worker will provide crisis intervention services as needed, collaborate with families, and work with various community resources to ensure comprehensive care for clients. They will also ensure the safety and well-being of consumers in residential programs by adhering to safety protocols, participate in direct care responsibilities, and follow and contribute to the treatment planning process in collaboration with the clinical team. Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Teams provide complete services including therapy, medication management, and resource linkage to adult individuals with serious mental illness (SMI), with services provided in the individual's home or the community. The role requires utilizing personal vehicles for client transportation and community-based work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, or another behavioral science and experience working with adults with serious mental illness (SMI); or
  • Bachelor's degree in a non-behavioral science field with experience supporting adults with serious mental illness or individuals with similar human service needs; or
  • High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience working with adults with serious mental illness or individuals with similar human service needs.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to provide rehabilitation, recovery-oriented support, and community-based services as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid PA Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Related training or certifications (e.g., Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, Home Health Aide) are preferred.
  • Experience in human services, healthcare, education, or other helping professions is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in direct care responsibilities, including daily living support and therapeutic activities.
  • Follow and contribute to the treatment planning process in collaboration with the clinical team.
