The University of Rochester is seeking a Mental Health Therapist to provide comprehensive mental health and/or dual diagnosis services for individuals with diagnosable mental illness. The therapist will function as the primary clinician, responsible for assessment, treatment planning, and therapy/counseling for patients and families. This role involves systematically assessing patient mental health concerns and strengths in collaboration with the patient and family, providing direct evidence-informed clinical treatment, including individual and family therapy, and crisis intervention. The therapist will also assess therapeutic goal completion, plan patient discharge, and meet minimum clinical productivity targets. The position requires performing complex psychosocial assessments and diagnostic formulations, documenting treatment in the electronic medical record, and developing family-centered, comprehensive, and individualized treatment plans. Additionally, the therapist will provide group therapy, participate in interdisciplinary treatment teams, collaborate with referral sources and other professionals, mobilize support networks, and maintain cooperative working relationships with community and health care agencies. The role also involves coordinating with support staff and maintaining professional Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
