About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is seeking a Mental Health Therapist to provide compassionate, evidence-based care to people recovering from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The therapist builds therapeutic relationships, collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, and supports clients in achieving lasting recovery and improved mental wellness.

The role is based at Avenues Recovery Center at Prince Frederick, a 93-bed residential facility providing drug and alcohol detoxification and inpatient rehabilitation services. Medical and clinical teams collaborate to provide care around the clock in a supportive environment focused on healing and recovery.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
• Active state licensure or certification required to practice in this role: LCSW, LCPC, LGPC, CAC-AD, CSC-AD, or ADT.
• Strong clinical judgment and observational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and strict confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
• Experience working in behavioral health, mental health, addiction treatment, or residential treatment settings.
• Experience facilitating group therapy.

Responsibilities

• Create individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for each client.
• Conduct individual, group, family, and couples therapy sessions.
• Manage a caseload and oversee clients’ clinical care throughout treatment.
• Assess client progress and modify treatment interventions as needed.
• Provide crisis intervention, prevention, and de-escalation when necessary.
• Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation.
• Collaborate with the Clinical Director, treatment team, and family members to ensure coordinated care.
• Develop aftercare and discharge recommendations to support long-term recovery.
• Model professionalism, integrity, accountability, dignity, and respect in every client interaction.
