About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Mental Health Therapist & Referral Specialist to provide mental health services to enrolled students. This role involves conducting initial assessments, determining treatment needs, providing individual, couples, and group psychotherapy, and conducting crisis counseling. The specialist will also work with students to provide referrals to external agencies, conduct outreach services to the university community, and develop liaison relationships across the University for primary prevention and psychoeducation on mental health concerns. Additionally, the role includes providing clinical supervision to Master's trainees, completing administrative tasks, engaging within the University and Division of Student Affairs, and serving as Essential Personnel to provide assistance in the event of a campus emergency. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • A master's degree from an accredited institution in Social Work
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Ability to handle complex crises and/or clinical situations
  • Demonstrate awareness and value of culturally-responsive mental health practice
  • Valid license to practice in the State of Florida under Florida Statute 491 or license eligible within 3 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience in a University setting, community clinic, healthcare environment, or in research is preferred
