About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Mental Health Therapist & Referral Specialist. This role is responsible for providing comprehensive mental health services to enrolled students, which includes conducting initial assessments to determine treatment needs, delivering individual, couples, and group psychotherapy, and providing crisis counseling. The specialist will also facilitate referrals to external agencies and engage in outreach and psychoeducation within the university community.

Requirements

  • A master's degree from an accredited institution in Social Work
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Ability to handle complex crises and/or clinical situations
  • Demonstrate awareness and value of culturally-responsive mental health practice
  • Valid license to practice in the State of Florida under Florida Statute 491 or license eligible within 3 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience in a University setting, community clinic, healthcare environment, or in research is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health services to enrolled students, including conducting initial assessments and determination of treatment needs
  • Conduct individual, couples, and group psychotherapy
  • Conduct crisis counseling
  • Work with students to provide referrals to external agencies
  • Provide outreach services to the university community
  • Develop liaison relationships across the University with a goal of primary prevention and psychoeducation on mental health concerns
  • Provide clinical supervision to Master's trainees
  • Complete administrative tasks
  • Engage within the University and Division of Student Affairs
  • Serve as Essential Personnel and provide assistance in the event of a campus emergency
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
