About The Position

The Mental Health Therapist - Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides intensive outpatient therapy services for individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs) and co-occurring mental health conditions, in accordance with NMAC and ASAM standards for Level 2.1 care. Using evidence-based models such as the Matrix Model, the therapist delivers structured, clinically driven programming that includes individual, group and family therapy for a minimum of 9 to 19 hours per week for adults and 6 to 19 hours for adolescents, typically 3 to 4 days per week, with up to 3 hours of service per day. Services are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery oriented.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related behavioral health field.
  • Minimum two years’ experience providing behavioral health treatment for individuals with substance use and/or co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Experience providing group therapy and delivering services aligned with evidence-based practices.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based models for integrated care (e.g., Matrix Model, ASAM criteria, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, Seeking Safety).
  • New Mexico State licensure as a Master's level mental health counselor or social worker is required (e.g., LPC, LMHC, LAMFT, LPCC, LMSW, LISW, LCSW, LMFT, or LPAT) by date of hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • Must have or be able to obtain First Aid and BLS/CPR certifications within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have or be able to obtain Narcan certification within six months of hire.
  • Must successfully complete an initial post-offer of employment Criminal Records Check.
  • Must comply with required testing and immunizations (TB, Hepatitis B, Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Influenza).

Nice To Haves

  • Formal training in the Matrix Model.
  • Candidates with a strong foundation in group facilitation and evidence-based SUD care (e.g., CBT, MI) will be considered with the expectation of completing training after hire.
  • Certification or formal training in Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, or EMDR.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English/Navajo or other relevant languages).
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, or community-based integrated care setting.
