About The Position

This position offers a $2,000 (1 year stay-on agreement) or $4,000 (2 year stay-on agreement) Sign On Bonus with the agency, provided upon completion of a probationary period. Under the supervision of the Early Intervention Services Supervisor, Families Forward, the therapist will provide intensive, home-based intervention to children from birth through seven years of age, their families, or pregnant individuals residing within the tri-county area. This role is part of a creative, team-oriented unit, receiving weekly supervision and bi-weekly peer group consultation, typically managing a caseload of 12-15 cases. Opportunities include rich trainings and possible certification within a recognized Evidence-Based Practice. The therapist is responsible for carrying out all program activities in a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies, and procedures. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, Psychology or related field is required or must be obtained within 60 days of application
  • Possession of an appropriate State of Michigan credential is required or must have applied for and be able to obtain within 60 days of hire
  • Must be willing to obtain the Michigan Infant Mental Health Association Endorsement® as an Infant Family Specialist (IFS) or as an Infant Mental Health Specialist (IMHS) or become endorsed
  • One year of experience (professional or paraprofessional) in the examination, evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with Severe Emotional Disturbance and their families required or one academic year of graduate practicum/internship experience with children with SED and families required
  • Some evening hours expected
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to reliable means of transportation for job related use required

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment and intervention to meet child’s emotional/social/developmental needs at home, school, and/or at childcare
  • Develop a comprehensive intervention plan
  • Provide services to facilitate the accomplishment of the family’s goals
  • Consult with childcare providers
  • Link and collaborate with other community human service providers
  • Carry out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures
