About The Position

Pathways is a 16-bed adult inpatient behavioral health unit within Elliot Behavioral Health Services. This unit is staffed by mental health professionals who provide tailored evaluation and treatment services to individual patients with persistent mental health illnesses. Patients are admitted voluntarily or involuntarily for 5-14 days. The state-of-the-art units offer a wide array of equipment and patient acuity, catering to nurses' professional interests, certifications, and experience levels.

Requirements

• Associates degree, Certification in Behavioral Sciences program, or its equivalent coursework required.
• 6 months experience in a behavioral health setting.
• Aggression de-escalation training approved by EHS.

Responsibilities

• Works under the direction of the RN Charge Nurse.
• Shares responsibility for providing and maintaining a therapeutic milieu through supervised therapeutic activities.
• Facilitates and provides direct care for patients of all ages.
• Supports the therapeutic milieu.
• Ensures the safety and well-being of patients.
• Participates in conversation, recreational activities, and basic living activities.
• Sets limits, confronts counterproductive behavior, and reassures or orients patients.
• Performs safety checks and assists in managing the therapeutic milieu.
• Collaborates with other unit personnel with crisis intervention techniques.
• Facilitates and leads community meetings and groups.
