About The Position

Pathways is a 16-bed adult inpatient behavioral health unit within Elliot Behavioral Health Services. This unit is staffed by a team of mental health professionals who provide tailored evaluation and treatment services to individual patients. Patients with persistent mental health illnesses are admitted voluntarily or involuntarily for 5-14 days. The state-of-the-art units offer a wide array of equipment and patient acuity, catering to nurses' professional interests, certifications, and experience levels. The Mental Health Technician works under the direction of the RN Charge Nurse and shares responsibility for providing and maintaining a therapeutic milieu through supervised therapeutic activities. The role involves facilitating and providing direct care for patients of all ages, supporting the therapeutic milieu, and ensuring patient safety and well-being.

Requirements

• Associates degree, Certification in Behavioral Sciences program, or its equivalent coursework required
• 6 months experience in behavioral health setting
• Aggression de-escalation training approved by EHS

Responsibilities

• Participates in conversation, recreational activities, and basic living activities
• Sets limits, confronts counterproductive behavior, and reassures orients patients
• Performs safety checks and assists in managing therapeutic milieu
• Collaborates with other unit personnel with crisis intervention techniques
• Facilitates and leads community meetings and groups
