About The Position

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) role at MHT - Hospital involves supporting and implementing the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Beacon Behavioral Health. The MHT will uphold and embody Beacon’s 5 Commandments for Exceptional Customer Service. This role requires demonstrating teamwork, assisting in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu, documenting patient information, recognizing the impact of group contagion, assisting clinicians with patient care, and performing clerical duties. The position also involves flexibility, problem-solving, efficiency, organization, and the ability to handle high-stress situations. The MHT must possess good physical and mental health, respect for others, integrity, and the ability to follow instructions. Additionally, the role requires CPR and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certification, effective communication skills, the ability to stand for long intervals, and dexterity for physical restraint when necessary.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or G.E.D. is required.
  • Ability to satisfy requirements for Healthcare Provider CPR and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB).
  • Ability to speak English and communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to stand on feet for long intervals.
  • Must have dexterity to participate in physical restraint of patients when necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in a mental health care setting preferred (preferably as a Mental Health Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant).
  • Appropriate education in a mental health related field might be substituted for experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support and implement the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Beacon Behavioral Health.
  • Uphold and embody Beacon’s 5 Commandments for Exceptional Customer Service.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by carrying out routine and assigned tasks within the Beacon program.
  • Assists in provision of maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu by monitoring compliance with program rules, providing assistance with security and supportive man-power by assisting in control of patients who exhibit unacceptable behavior.
  • Documents patient’s departure from program (i.e. transportation to and from program) and significant occurrences, observed behavior, vital signs, and observation findings on assigned patients and as required by the professional nurse.
  • Recognizes the impact of group contagion by behavior and demonstrates assistance with therapeutic interventions.
  • Assists clinician with patient care tasks and therapist with therapeutic interventions.
  • Performs clerical duties related to support of Health Information Management, Intake, Administrative Assistant, Clinic Manager and Administrator.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as required.
  • Displays flexibility and willingness to help others, identifies and offers solutions to problem, vision, foresight, and customer sensitivity.
  • Performs job with efficiency necessary to complete assignments within established timelines.
  • Organizes and prioritizes work while being cost-effective and conserving resources.
  • Able to tolerate high-stress and high volume work.
