About The Position

This full-time opportunity as a Mental Health Technician (MHT) at River Park Hospital's Huntington location offers 40 hours per week and full benefits. MHTs are responsible for developing and maintaining therapeutic relationships with patients throughout their healthcare journey, ensuring and improving quality care by facilitating safe, quality, and cost-effective care. They maintain patient confidentiality, meet patient learning needs using appropriate resources, and conduct patient rounds for routine and heightened observation. MHTs interact therapeutically to de-escalate crises, demonstrate respect for patients, peers, and other clinical disciplines, and participate as effective members of the patient care team to implement an integrated approach to care. They also demonstrate leadership behaviors and a commitment to self and professional development. River Park Hospital is a 165-bed facility in Huntington, WV, specializing in behavioral health care, offering acute inpatient services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, a 22-bed residential treatment program, and a 25-bed adult forensic unit. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Six months experience in a mental health setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare continuum
  • Assure and improve quality care by facilitating the patient and family’s right to receive safe, quality, and cost-effective care
  • Maintain and protect confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care and information
  • Demonstrate a commitment to meeting the learning needs of patients by utilizing appropriate resources to meet those needs and achieve positive patient outcomes
  • Conduct patient rounds related to routine and heightened observation status
  • Interact in a therapeutic manner to decrease crisis within the patient care setting
  • Demonstrate respect and understanding for patients, peers and other clinical disciplines
  • Participate as an effective member of the patient care team to implement an integrated approach to care
