About The Position

The Mental Health Team at the Warren County Educational Service Center (ESC) is seeking a Mental Health Therapist to join their mission to build resiliency in students and ensure access to mental health services within schools. This full-time position, based at the Wellness Center - Deerfield Campus, is for the 26-27 school year, starting August 2026, under a 189-day contract. The therapist will serve as the central point of contact for mental health services referred by the district for triage, providing mental health consultation and crisis intervention services, including lethality screens. Key responsibilities include conducting initial therapeutic assessments, individual and family psychotherapy, and developing appropriate treatment plans for students with chronic mental health concerns, while working closely with program administration.

Requirements

  • Appropriate State of Ohio Mental Health Training and shall be governed by Ohio law.
  • State of Ohio Educational Aide Student Monitor Permit.
  • Demonstrates a sincere desire to aid all students, staff, and the community.
  • Holds a license through the Ohio CSWMFT Board (LSW, LISW, LPC, LPCC).
  • Good health, high moral character, and acceptable attendance record.
  • Demonstrate competence in using computer-related programs including database programs.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and maintains a positive work attitude.
  • Effectively uses, verbal, nonverbal, writing, and listening skills.
  • Completes paperwork accurately.
  • Verifies and correctly enters data.
  • Organizes tasks and manages time effectively.
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual.

Responsibilities

  • Provides mental health consultation to the program.
  • Attends IEP and other educational meetings (as needed).
  • Acts as a liaison with community services and programing.
  • Determines appropriate service(s) to each student referred and refers to appropriate community agency (as needed).
  • Provides mental health services to the children and families in the assigned school program(s). These mental health services will include: Individual Counseling/Psychotherapy; Group Counseling/Psychotherapy; Diagnostic Assessment; Crisis Invention; Community psychiatric supportive treatment and consultations.
  • The provision of these services will be in accordance with Warren County Educational Service Center Mental Health Services clinical practice, policy and procedures, and State, Federal, and Accrediting-body Standards.
  • Meets productivity standard determined at the beginning of each contract year.
  • Meets with the Director of Mental Health Programming or designee on a monthly basis.
  • Reports to the Director of Mental Health Programming or designee to meet all clinical supervision requirements.
  • Participates in scheduled staff meetings.
  • Keeps appropriate documentation on all students.
  • Keeps the Director of Mental Health Programming informed concerning all areas of responsibility.
  • Participates in local, state, and national conferences and seminars in order to keep abreast of improvements, innovations, and changes in the instructional programs as needed by Mental Health training.
  • Works cooperatively with all Warren County Educational Service Center staff.
  • Subscribes to the annual evaluation process.
  • Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
  • Helps instill in students that belief in and practice of ethical principles, tolerance, and democratic values.
  • Conducts other duties related to the Director of Mental Health Programming and/or the Superintendent of Schools.
