About The Position

This position is for a Mental Health Technician on the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. The role involves working closely with Licensed Nursing Staff to provide patient care and create a therapeutic environment. The technician will assist patients with daily activities, help maintain a supportive and safe environment, and perform various duties ranging from clerical tasks to clinical support. The goal is to help patients feel at ease and supported.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must obtain BCLS certification within 120 days of hire and keep it current
  • Clearance through the Family Care Registry
  • Completion of training as directed through orientation and/or by Leadership, Management, or Educators in the established timeline
  • Department orientation with classroom and clinical training equivalent to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) regulations—or meet specific background criteria
  • Enrolled in a professional or practical nursing program and completed a fundamentals of nursing course
  • Was a nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state licensure exam in the past 3 years
  • Certified as a nursing assistant per state regulation
  • Certified or trained in UAP curriculum
  • Has documented experience as a nurse assistant, EMT, or surgical technician in the past 3 years
  • Completed UAP training in Missouri within the last 3 years
  • Completed a professional or practical nursing program outside the U.S. and awaiting licensure in this country
  • UAPs from staffing agencies must comply with training requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living (ambulation, feeding, etc.)
  • Previous mental health experience
  • BCLS certification
