This role provides assistance and strategies to individuals in community, vocational, or in-home settings to live as independently as possible. Working closely with clinical staff, the Mental Health Technician supports therapeutic and behavioral plans. Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities such as socialization, behavioral development, personal care, housekeeping, recreational activities, transportation, community integration, shopping, and other activities of daily living. The role also involves accurate documentation of progress and activities, reviewing records and logs, and staying updated on service plans. Additionally, it may require providing clinical expertise for specialized populations (e.g., intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain injury, emotional or behavioral disability) or specific disciplines (e.g., behavioral support, early intervention, crisis intervention). The technician may accompany individuals to medical appointments, relay orders, and travel between sites, to homes, and into the community.
