About The Position

Metropolitan Behavioral Health, a UHS facility, is a growing 144-bed behavioral health facility providing a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population. This includes specialty programs for adolescents, adults, and older adults, and behavioral health assessments 24 hours a day. Programs for co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues are also offered. The Mental Health Technician (MHT) serves as the primary supervisor of patients, conducting continuous 15-minute safety checks, supervising patients for safety, performing room and environmental checks, property checks, contraband searches, facilitating groups, writing group notes, escorting patients to meals and other activities, and providing supervision and safety at all times. All MHTs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Requirements

• Associates degree in psychology, sociology or similar field is required
• Two (2) years of related experience
• Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques
• Understanding of mental illness

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology or similar field is preferred
• Experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness is preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct every 15-minute safety checks on patients
