About The Position
Canyon Creek Behavioral Health is a 102-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in the beautiful Central Texas town of Temple, Texas. Canyon Creek features individual units for adolescents, adults, and seniors, and offers inpatient acute care and intensive outpatient programs. We are enthusiastic about providing compassionate health care from our team here at Canyon Creek Behavioral Health. Position Summary The Mental Health Technician (PRN) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in ages from adolescent through geriatrics. All MHT’s work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Successful completion Handle with Care Training, Service Excellence Training, and CPR certification required. Certifications must be obtained during new hire orientation.
- MHT’s may be required to work weekends, overtime, nights, and have flexible hours.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Nursing Assistant
- Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, or appropriate therapeutic discipline highly desirable.
- Minimum one (1) year(s) of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
Responsibilities
- Follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient
- Utilize sound judgment during assessment and observe and documents any changes in a patient’s appearance, behavior, or ability to work toward treatment plan goals
- Communicate changes in patient’s condition to the charge nurse
