About The Position

Full-Time Night Shift opportunities (7PM-7AM) for a Mental Health Technician at MHT - Hospital. This role involves supporting and implementing the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Beacon Behavioral Health, and upholding Beacon’s 5 Commandments for Exceptional Customer Service. The position requires assisting in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, documenting patient information, supporting clinicians with patient care, performing clerical duties, and demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills. The role also demands efficiency, cost-effectiveness, the ability to handle high-stress situations, and constructive interaction with patients, families, and colleagues. Punctuality and adherence to the attendance policy are essential. The role requires good physical and mental health, respect for others, the ability to work under supervision with demanding patients, and effective communication skills.

Requirements

High school graduate or G.E.D. is required.
Ability to satisfy requirements for Healthcare Provider CPR and Crisis Intervention Prevention (CPI).
Ability to speak English and communicate effectively.
Must be able to stand on feet for long intervals.
Must have dexterity to participate in physical restraint of patients when necessary.

Nice To Haves

One year experience in a mental health care setting preferred (preferably as a Mental Health Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant).
Appropriate education in a mental health related field might be substituted for experience.
Good physical and mental health as evidenced by warm empathic attitude.
Respect for the dignity and worth of others and a high sense of personal integrity.
Ability to work under close supervision with distractions/demanding patients and follow both verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

Support and implement the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Beacon Behavioral Health.
Uphold and embody Beacon’s 5 Commandments for Exceptional Customer Service.
Demonstrates teamwork by carrying out routine and assigned tasks within the Beacon program.
Assists in provision of maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu by monitoring compliance with program rules, providing assistance with security and supportive man-power by assisting in control of patients who exhibit unacceptable behavior.
Documents patient’s departure from program (i.e. transportation to and from program) and significant occurrences, observed behavior, vital signs, and observation findings on assigned patients and as required by the professional nurse.
Recognizes the impact of group contagion by behavior and demonstrates assistance with therapeutic interventions.
Assists clinician with patient care tasks and therapist with therapeutic interventions.
Performs clerical duties related to support of Health Information Management, Intake, Administrative Assistant, Clinic Manager and Administrator.
Performs other duties and special projects as required.
