Newport News Behavioral Health Center is a 108-bed intensive and highly structured residential treatment facility for the psychiatric and behavioral health needs of adolescent males and females ages 11-18 years. The center has an on-site certified school, therapists, and vocational programming. The Mental Health Technician (MHT) is an active participant in the implementation of physical care, therapeutic activities, and the academic program. They assist in planning and implementing treatment programs for residents, and implement functional behavioral assessment/behavior intervention plans as well as individualized academic or behavioral goals, accommodations, and services as defined by Individualized Instructional Plans (IIPs), Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and 504 Plans.
