About The Position

The Mental Health Tech (MHT) works directly with patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting and partners with nurses, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team to maintain a safe, supportive, structured, and therapeutic environment. The role supports patients through daily activities and treatment programming, contributes to therapeutic activities and milieu management, and helps build trusting relationships while providing compassionate, patient-centered care. It offers an opportunity to develop practical patient-care skills and gain experience in behavioral health.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR/BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Compassion and empathy, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with patients, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, demonstrate sound judgment and adaptability, and contribute to a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous behavioral health, psychiatric, healthcare, residential, or direct-care experience.
• Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support and supervision to patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting.
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
• Observe patient behaviors and communicate relevant changes to the clinical team.
• Support patients with daily activities and treatment programming.
• Participate in therapeutic activities and milieu management.
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other members of the treatment team.
• Follow hospital safety, documentation, and patient-care procedures.
