About The Position

Copper Hills Youth Center is a 24/7 secure residential treatment center (behavioral health) for male and female adolescents aged 12 through 17. We counsel, teach and mentor students who have psychiatric disorders. Our goal is to provide treatment that results in positive changes, allowing these youth to return to their families and communities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 18 years old
• Excellent Verbal Communication Skills
• Must be able to work effectively in a team and possible high stress environment
• Effective problem solving skills
• Ability to effectively manage conflict
• Must have excellent attendance record
• Must be able to pass a thorough background check

Responsibilities

• Serve as a positive role model for youth while providing close supervision and documenting behaviors.
• Ensure that students are meeting defined daily goals, including hygiene, unit activities, education & therapy meetings, etc.
• Intervene during student crisis as necessary by using verbal de-escalation skills and other personal safety techniques.
• Facilitate group interactions and ensure students are behaving according to standards.
• Educate students on appropriate behavior and possible consequences, and enact consequences if needed, using positive verbal skills.
