About The Position

The Mental Health Tech works in the inpatient behavioral health unit at Baptist Health LaGrange, which provides care for adults 18 and older who require hospitalization for behavioral health needs in a safe, structured environment. The unit uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes registered nurses, mental health technicians, social workers, a recreational therapist, and a psychiatrist. This is a PRN night-shift role, with a stated schedule of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Have or obtain BLS certification.
• Positive and passionate about helping people in the community.

Nice To Haves

• Previous behavioral health experience; not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine patient care as delegated by nursing staff.
• Assist in obtaining patient histories, take vital signs, record intake and output, and document information.
• Complete safety rounds for patients and the unit as delegated or assigned.
• Maintain a clean and tidy patient room and environment.
• Respond positively to requests for service and assistance.
• Advocate for patients.
