About The Position
The Mental Health Technician (PRN) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from adolescents through adulthood depending on which unit worked. The Mental Health Technician works under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- One (1) year related experience required.
- Psychiatric Technician experience is preferred.
- Current Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) certification is highly desirable.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a mental health hospital setting is preferred.
- Some college course work is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates group activities tailored to the appropriate topic, age, and level of understanding as approved by the Program Coordinator.
- Ensures patients are consistently monitored in the proper location for the duration of activities.
- Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns.
