The Mental Health Technician (MHT) provides direct patient support to individuals receiving services in the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) by monitoring patient status, reinforcing therapeutic interventions and assisting with structured program activities. The MHT functions as a non-licensed, paraprofessional member of the multidisciplinary team, supporting implementation of individualized treatment plans and maintaining a safe, structured therapeutic environment. This role also supports program operations through non-clinical administrative functions, including scheduling, registration, and documentation support, in accordance with established protocols. The MHT role aligns with CMS IOP requirements for services furnished by trained behavioral health staff as part of a multidisciplinary team and is structured to meet applicable federal, state, and accreditation standards governing behavioral health and Intensive Outpatient Programs. The MHT may perform administrative and front office support functions to facilitate efficient program operations, provided these duties are non-clinical in nature and performed in accordance with hospital policies, payer requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations.
