About The Position

Under supervision, to perform work involving the delivery of basic services and care to behavioral health patients. Performs selected patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team providing support to the patient's therapeutic treatment plan.

Requirements

• Ability to clearly communicate with the multidisciplinary team members
• Post high school education may be substituted for the work experience requirement on a year for year basis.
• High School Diploma/GED Equivalent General Studies Required
• One (1) year of work experience as a healthcare provider, preferably in a behavior health setting, or a closely related field is required.
• Certified Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation
• Meets the Standards of Behavior as outlined in Personnel Policy and Procedure #1, Employee Relations Code.
• Demonstrates knowledge of procedures for protecting and maintaining security, confidentiality and integrity of employee, patient, family, organizational and other medical information.
• Understands and supports the commitment of Methodist Hospitals in adhering to federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations governing ethical business practices for healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Provides care services related to the type of scheduled activity on the unit and treatment plan, including recreational, art, media, self-expression, physical exercise, etc.
• Assists patients and other staff with ambulation, transfers and repositioning as needed.
• Assists with the patient's activities of daily living, including such activities as bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, feeding, etc.
• Measures and obtains and records and reports patient's vital signs, weight, I&O, glucometer testing, etc.
• Monitors patients based upon safety precautions as assigned.
