About The Position

The mental health technician is a member of the multidisciplinary team and works under the direction of the registered nurse to provide direct care and support for behavioral health patients.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current BLS certification required
• Handle with Care certification required within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

• 1-2 years’ experience working in a behavioral healthcare setting

Responsibilities

• Complete routine observations and safety checks of patients and environment of care.
• Report behavioral changes to the assigned Charge Nurse.
• Participate in the patient treatment planning as needed.
• Organize and encourage patient participation in unit activities.
• Facilitate group activities and provide recreational activities under the supervision of a Recreation Therapist.
• Obtain vital signs and assist with activities of daily living as necessary.
• Provide behavioral health crisis intervention as necessary.
• Complete necessary documentation in electronic health record as indicated.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
