Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Mental Health Specialist (MHS) provides direct patient care and participates in the therapeutic milieu on the General Adult Unit (NB1). This unit primarily focuses on the treatment of depression and anxiety, but also cares for patients with a wide range of psychiatric disorders including OCD, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, self-harming behaviors, homicidally, and co-occurring substance use disorders. The team provides patient-centered care through therapeutic engagement, medication management, and behavioral interventions in a supportive, team-based environment.
