About The Position

The Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) is seeking a Mental Health Services Manager to oversee all mental health treatment within correctional facilities in their designated area. This role involves integrating mental health services, collaborating with Health Care and Correctional Facilities Administration to ensure quality and flexible responses to the mental health needs of prisoners. The position is a member of the Warden’s Management Team, participating in and advising on procedural and policy changes.

Requirements

  • Possession of a master’s degree with a major in psychology, social work, or counseling; or a master's degree in nursing with a clinical nurse specialty in psychiatry.
  • Four years of professional post-masters experience as a Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker, Corrections Qualified Mental Health Professional, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Practitioner, or other qualified mental health professional in the areas of mental illness or developmental disabilities.
  • Two years of experience equivalent to the experienced level (P11) or one year equivalent to the advanced level (12) in state service.
  • Possession of a Michigan license in good standing to practice within the scope of the qualified mental health profession as a psychologist, social worker, counselor, or registered nurse.
  • All required documents must be attached and submitted at the time of application.

  • Official college transcripts indicating the specific type of degree earned and the conferred/graduation date must be attached.
  • Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment with the Department of Corrections until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
