About The Position
Join our team as a full-time Mental Health Rehab Worker at Hiawatha Hall in Winona, MN! This position provides direct care services to program clients and helps to ensure a calm and appropriate therapeutic environment in the home. This position typically starts at the mid wage range which can vary based on education and experience. We offer a pay differential for overnight and weekend hours. Staff must remain awake during all work hours.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Complete required trainings according to MN statue
- Strong verbal communication skills required
- Ability to work with and relate to adults with serious mental illness
- Proficient at personal computer standard applications (Word, Excel, E-mail, etc.)
- Use of fax and photocopy machine

- A mental health rehabilitation worker under the treatment supervision of a mental health professional or certified rehabilitation specialist may provide rehabilitative mental health services to an adult client according to the client's treatment plan
Responsibilities
- Provide structure, support and daily organization to residents
- Conduct therapeutic client encounters daily
- Manage client emotional and behavioral issues using a variety of techniques including but not limited to crisis intervention and de-escalation
- Assist clients in learning independent living skills
- Follow and enforce house schedule and all house rules
- Conduct hourly checks
- Serve as role model and mentor to new staff
- Participate in level assessments
- Complete daily logs and encounter notes
- Dispense medications in accordance with legal requirements and house rules
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings as required
- Document therapeutic encounters as required
- Record client progress toward goal completion in client chart
- Participate as a member of the treatment team
- Participate in the development of house policies and procedures in conjunction with management
