About The Position

Bayshore Medical Personnel is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Registered Nurse for a Part-Time contract opportunity in Vancouver, BC, to provide healthcare services within Military Health Services. This role focuses on making a meaningful impact on a unique and rewarding patient population. The position offers daytime hours, Monday to Friday, with no nights, weekends, or on-call duties. The Mental Health Nurse will be responsible for assessment, nursing diagnosis, care plan development and implementation, crisis intervention, and counseling/life skills programming in a primary health care setting. Key responsibilities include providing individual and group therapy using CBT, DBT, or motivational interviewing techniques, conducting bio-psychosocial assessments, and managing medications from both inpatient and outpatient perspectives.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse
• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a recognized college or university with either a certificate in Mental Health Nursing or certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA).
• Registered Nurse license from the provincial or territorial professional college or association in the province of practice.
• Certificate of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider or equivalent such as Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) Level C. Annual recertification is required.
• 3 years of experience in Mental Health.

Responsibilities

• Provide Mental Health services to clients in a primary health care setting.
• Conduct assessment, nursing diagnosis, and develop/implement care plans.
• Perform crisis intervention.
• Provide counseling and life skills programming to clients.
• Deliver counseling services in individual and/or group therapy sessions using CBT, DBT, or motivational interview techniques.
• Perform bio-psychosocial assessments.
• Conduct medication management from inpatient and outpatient perspectives.
