About The Position

This position involves providing nursing care to individuals residing in the Oregon State Hospital, a forensic psychiatric facility. Responsibilities include administering medications, developing nursing plans of care, conducting assessments, and responding to emergent and potentially dangerous psychiatric situations. The role also entails monitoring staff work assignments and supervising staff to ensure a therapeutic, safe, and secure milieu. The specific shift is for Unit: Lighthouse 1 (male patient population) within the Harbors Program, operating Saturday - Tuesday from 12:30pm to 11:00pm, with Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off. The Harbors Program serves acute patients, often with a fast turnaround for stabilization or admission, in a hardened environment with higher staffing ratios. This area demands critical thinking, multitasking, and strong time management skills due to frequent admissions and restrictive events. There is a strong team environment, but a steep learning curve for new staff is possible. Collaboration with different disciplines and unit support are available.
