About The Position

The Mental Health Program Director provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for outpatient and residential behavioral health programs. The Director is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based mental health services, maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting program growth, and fostering a culture of clinical excellence and patient-centered care. This position provides oversight of mental health clinical teams and ensures programs meet all applicable federal, state, accreditation, and organizational standards.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a clinical social work, addiction counseling, psychology, or a related discipline from an accredited or state approved graduate school.
  • Independently Licensed in Marriage Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work in Washington State is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with demonstrated expertise in evidence-based practices.
  • Strong understanding of The ASAM Criteria and its application in addiction treatment programs.
  • Commitment to client-centered care and continuous quality improvement.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • WA State Clinical Licensure required (LMHC/LMHCA/LMFT/LICSW).
  • Valid drivers license and vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and administrative leadership for outpatient and residential mental health programs.
  • Ensure services are delivered consistently with evidence-based and best-practice behavioral health models.
  • Promote trauma-informed, person-centered, and recovery-oriented clinical services.
  • Support the development and implementation of treatment programming addressing mental health, co-occurring disorders, crisis stabilization, and psychosocial rehabilitation.
  • Review clinical outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee daily operations of all assigned mental health programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Washington State regulations, Medicaid requirements, licensing standards, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Develop, implement, and revise policies and procedures to optimize program effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Monitor productivity, staffing patterns, service utilization, and program performance metrics.
  • Participate in strategic planning and program development efforts.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate clinical and support staff.
  • Provide clinical consultation and administrative supervision to mental health clinicians.
  • Monitor compliance with documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, referral sources, healthcare systems, managed care organizations, community agencies, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide mental health assessments, treatment planning, counseling, groups, education, de-escalation and other clinical interventions as appropriate.
