About The Position

Allina Health is a statewide leader in integrated mental health and addiction care, offering a full continuum of services—from primary care integration to specialty outpatient clinics, day treatment, and inpatient programs. Be part of a leading Mental Health and Addiction Clinical Service line with over 290 clinicians across Minnesota. This is a casual position with 0.0 FTE, an 8-hour day shift, and no weekends. The role involves planning and facilitating therapeutic interventions through structured activities and education, providing direct and indirect patient care services under the supervision of Mental Health Professionals and a Program Manager/Supervisor. The assistant will utilize patient/family needs to provide input into the care and discharge planning process and follow all practices as outlined by Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, MN DHS Manuals, and in accordance with MN § 245I as a Mental Health Practitioner in Adult Day Treatment, Adolescent Day Treatment, Intensive Outpatient Programs, and Partial Hospital Programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational therapy, therapeutic recreation, music therapy, dance therapy or social/psychological area.
  • Meets MH Practitioner Qualifications in accordance with MN § 245I.04, Subd 4.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association OR Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross OR Allina in-house BLS training (within 90 days of hire).

Responsibilities

  • Assessment/reassessment of level of risk (consulting with MH Professional), level of functioning, and programming needs for patient/families.
  • Documentation of assessments.
  • Planning and conducting educational/therapeutic activities.
  • Assigning patients to specific groups according to the team treatment plan.
  • Conducting scheduled groups and one-on-one education/activities as determined by assessment and treatment plan.
  • Proactively working with all disciplines to achieve the treatment plan.
  • Advocating for patients' rights, representing patient/family needs when they are unable to do so, and supporting patient rights through awareness and provision of legal rights.
  • Following safety/security procedures for emergency and non-emergency situations to protect patient, self, and environment.
  • Engaging in supervision with assigned Clinical Treatment Supervisors under a signed Supervision Plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.
