The Mental Health Professional II reports to the Program Director and is responsible for providing mental health clinical services, direct treatment, and case management to clients.

Requirements

  • Licensed in the State of California as a Clinical Social Worker, Marriage Family Child Therapist OR, Unlicensed: A Master’s degree in behavioral science with current intern registration (M.F.T. or L.C.S.W.).
  • Demonstrated skills in clinical mental health services with individuals, families, and groups.
  • Knowledge of mental illness and effective treatment approaches to mental disorders.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, etc.
  • Ability to operate communication/meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom and other platforms.
  • Ability to operate within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, general physical, and TB test.
  • Must maintain good relationships with consumers, co-workers, government and civic representatives, as well as community members within whom the Agency is transacting business, and relate to them in a professional manner.
  • Must be available by cell phone as needed.
  • Communicate effectively in written and spoken Spanish.
  • Required ability to communicate effectively with monolingual Spanish speaking clients and families for all clinical purposes.
  • Assist with phone calls for Spanish clients.
  • Required to provide language translations for case managers and Physicians on a periodic basis.
  • Other translation tasks as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health services to children, youth and families including assessment, crisis intervention, individual and family therapy, plan development, group therapy and case management.
  • Provide mental health services to children, youth and care providers in various settings such as client residence, school, community locations, tele-health and clinic sites.
  • Document service provision for full-scope Medi-Cal and Short-Doyle beneficiaries under 21, including preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services under EPSDT, in accordance with program, county, and state requirements.
  • Complete clinical assessments for children and youth, identifying symptoms, resulting impairments, and developing treatment objectives and interventions.
  • Maintain a caseload of clients, monitor and coordinate mental health services to ensure individualized and family-focused treatment.
  • Coordinate service delivery with Mental Health Rehabilitation Providers, Licensed Vocational Nurses/Licensed Psychiatric Technicians, Psychiatrists, and Administrative staff as part of a treatment team.
  • Collaborate with Community Partners to coordinate care and identify resources to help reduce barriers for clients and families receiving mental health treatment.
  • Complete progress notes documenting service provision in the electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely manner and according to standards designated by the Program Director.
  • Comply with program standards for documentation, evidence-based practices, treatment planning, discharge planning, and other quality assurance indicators.
  • Attend team/staff meetings regularly.
  • Complete at least 40 hours of required training.
  • Follow reporting requirements for incidents of Child Abuse, Elder Abuse, Adult Abuse, Dependent Adult Abuse, and Tarasoff warnings per California reporting laws.
  • Drive on Agency business.
  • Maintain physical presence in the office.
